Dojo Etiquette

  • All students must display a respectful, friendly and positive attitude towards the other students, staff and Instructors at all times.
  • There is a board on the wall you must sign in upon arrival. Please print legibly.
  • All students must have their belts tied all times.
  • Remain on the mat are while the class is in progress.
  • Please arrive on time for class. If you are late, wait outside the mat until the professor gives you permission to join.
  • When the instructor is showing a position or teaching, please refrain from talking to other students during that time.
  • The academy is a “cell free“ zone. Please silence your phones before entering the academy.
    Talking on cell phones are allowed in the academy when class is in progress, unless it’s an emergency.
  • You must always wear a shirt or rash guard inside the academy. Underwear is mandatory. If you need to change, please use the locker room or restroom.
  • In sign of respect and courtesy to the others and safety, every uniform needs to be washed and dried after every training session.
    Dirty or smelly uniforms won’t be allowed in class.
  • Arrive clean and free of fragrances or scents. Body odors are offensive to other students.
  • All uniforms should be without rips or tears.
  • For No-Gi classes, make sure your shorts don’t have zippers or any other thing that can damage our mats.
  • No food is allowed in the academy (including protein bars, fruits, etc.) to avoid bugs.
  • No shoes or drinks of any kind on the mat areas.
  • Please make sure your feet are clean.
  • Do not walk barefoot into the academy from the parking lot.
  • Always wear shoes or slippers when off the mats, especially in the restrooms and changing rooms.
  • Bags should be kept either in vehicles or in the locker room, not on the benches around the training area.
  • Fingernails and toenails must trimmed at all times when training.
